Goed Genoeg
Sound Designer

"Goed Genoeg" is a film by Britt Beckers from HKU Audiovisual Media, which was featured in Blikvangers in Utrecht. The film sensitively portrays the story of Sam and her friend Noa during a camper holiday in Limburg. What begins as a lighthearted question about moving in together evolves into a deeper exploration of Sam’s internal struggles as she grapples with her desires and the challenges they bring.
As the sound designer for this project, my goal was to enhance the film's auditory experience and capture the emotional nuances of the story. This process involved careful sound cleaning to eliminate unwanted noise from the set, ensuring the highest quality and clarity. Additionally, I incorporated ambient layers and designed specific sound effects to create a smooth, natural soundscape.
A desicion was made to develop an auditory shift that conveys Sam’s experience of zoning out. This approach effectively immerses the audience in her inner conflict and sense of disconnection, which I believed was crucial in highlighting the emotional depth of the narrative.
A primary focus of the sound design was to create a cohesive and authentic sound environment that seamlessly integrated with the film's narrative while reinforcing its themes of identity and personal relationships.
Additionally, as the sound mixer for this project, I thoroughly focused on achieving the desired auditory balance and overall sound objectives. The final mix, presented in both 5.1 surround sound and stereo, was carefully calibrated to enhance the film’s impact.
